Our work with the Planet of the Apes question posited a major question: How do you keep a rebooted property fresh while still honoring the classic chapters of the franchise?
With an audience split across two branches of the Apes timeline, we worked with Fox to develop franchise social content that kept both sets of fans energized and engaged – via archival posts showing off great imagery and video from the films, behind-the-scenes looks at the classic make-up and modern special effects vital to the series, and supplemental looks at comics and other merchandising content.
In the build-up to 2017’s War for the Planet of the Apes, our social posting also took on a practical aspect: building audience love for pivotal characters like Blue Eyes and reinforcing their connection to characters important to where the story headed – i.e. Caesar, Maurice, and Koba – as well as connections harkening back to the original five films.
